Witches are the magic heroes of Fortress.
"Witches are adept at the use of magic powered by rare ingredients gathered from swamplands. Learning this knowledge takes a focus that allows for little advancement of military knowledge." RoE manual
As they are heroes of a neutral town, this allows them to sacrifice for experience both creatures and artifacts on Altar of Sacrifice and in Grotto .
All witches start with the secondary skill Wisdom. They cannot learn Necromancy, Resistance, and Interference , which means they can only acquire them from Witch Huts (if allowed), Scholars, Seer's Huts, Pandora's Boxes or Events.
